CareCalculator makes it easy to ensure your child care centre has the correct amount of educators allocated to a room.
From January 1 2016, new child ratios have been added to the National Quality Framework to give consistency across Australia.
Calculating the educator requirements for these new ratios can be difficult, especially when there are children from multiple age brackets in one room.
Take the following mixed age room scenario in NSW:
0-24 months: 2 children
24-36 months: 6 children
36 months and up: 11 children
At a glance, you may think you need 5 educators (1 for the first bracket, 2 for the second and 2 for the third). What can be done is: 2 children from the second bracket can be moved into the first to fill the first bracket. We now have 4:4:11.
We can then move 1 child from the third bracket into the second to fill the second bracket to give us 4:5:10.
we now can see we only require 3 educators to meet the requirements.
CareCalculator simplifies this process by doing the hard work for you. Simply enter the number of children in each age bracket, select your state and press calculate.
